Swam away before I was able to snap a good pic
Very round rabbit just chilling in the yard
Sighted foraging on the ground and probing beak into leaf litter and soil
It took seven visits to finally observe and photograph this single female BAWW that has been reported by others near this location since November. On this occasion, it wasn't visible when I arrived and looked for nearly 45 minutes. I then walked around Green Lake while birding and returned to the area 2 1/2 hours later. While chatting with another birder, I saw it appear immediately in front of us about five meters to the east. It foraged around the base of these birch trunks for about a minute then disappeared again behind and to the left. It was not seen again within another 20 minutes when we both departed.
