An estuary is where freshwater meets the salty sea, creating rich natural areas that benefit people and wildlife. Our Morro Bay estuary is one of 28 nationally designated estuaries. Including the watershed, the land that drains into the bay, the area spans about 48,000 acres of important coastal habitat.
