I believe that seeds rule the world, & are much more important than people give them credit for. So much of our attention goes to the pretty flowers, but few stop to think about what that flower is there to do! It didn't put all that energy into that big beautiful flower just to impress you, like a decoration. The plant grew that elaborately colored flower because that is how much it cares about reproduction, going to whatever lengths necessary to be pollinated!
The diversity of seeds & their morphological adaptations will never cease to amaze me. I hope this project can serve multiple purposes; partly to showcase this beautiful diversity, & partly to be an aid in identification for similar looking seeds!
Lastly, my two favorite seed related quotes:
"Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, & I am prepared to expect wonders" ~Henry David Thoreau
“The sun, with all those planets revolving around it & dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.” ~Galileo Galilei
