The West Virginia Natural Heritage Program (WVNHP) compiles and is responsible for locality-based data for ecological communities and rare, threatened, and endangered animal species of West Virginia. We encourage users to join the Rare Animals of West Virginia Monitoring Program so that habitats are identified, threats are determined, and conservation plans are developed for the rare animals that are tracked within the WVNHP project.
Once you have an iNaturalist account, send your username to Mack Frantz (mack.w.frantz@wv.gov) so you can be invited to join the WVNHP project. Once you been invited you'll get an email notification, and the invite will appear on your iNaturalist dashboard. You can then start submitting observations of rare, tracked animals to the project using your PC or smartphone.
