Antillean Four-lined Skinks (genus Spondylurus) are endemic to the Caribbean with 17 currently recognized species. Unfortunately most of the species are endangered and several may already be extinct. There is very little information available on their distributions, local abundances, activity periods, and other aspects of their natural history, all of which make it very challenging to monitor and assess the needs of these unique and imperiled lizards.
Join the quest to help fill some of these knowledge gaps to guide future conservation management of skinks in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands!
Any and all observations of Four-lined Skinks are helpful, and notes about macrohabitat, microhabitat, and time of day will be especially useful for establishing appropriate monitoring protocols.
