Chalk Farm Hotel Garden

This project is designed to allow Students, Staff and Visitors of Chalk Farm Hotel (Willingdon, Eastbourne, UK) to record and identify observations made in the garden of the hotel.
Students and Garden staff have been remodelling the 'Secret Garden' in order that it provides food sources and habitats for a wide range of UK wildlife. We have been turning an area that was previously inaccessible and overgrown with invasive Bamboo into a Garden for people and wildlife alike, with an emphasis on accessability and sustainability.
Throughout the 'Secret Garden', allotment area and Hotel grounds we do not use chemical pesticides and fertilisers, make and use our own organic compost and propagate and grow plants beneficial to UK wildlife. We have created a wildlife pond, Wildflower areas and numerous Hibernaculae with these aims. We also aim to make the garden accessible and attractive to visitors and Hotel guests. This work is being carried out by a small team of garden support workers and learning disabled adults. We have a very small budget and re-use materials from the site and donated items in our creations.
We encourage visitors to come and take a walk around the garden and invite them to observe and upload their sightings of Flora and Fauna to this project. menos ↑
