American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) from the Ontario Pathways rail-trail near Phelps, NY... It grew on the outside of a curve in Flint Creek, between the low falls and 2nd bridge south of SR 96, where it was subject to damage by fallen trees washing downstream.

Mundillo (Viburnum opulus)Autor
northeastnaturalistDescripción
Guelder-Rose (Viburnum opulus), is a.k.a. European "Cranberrybush." The native version is American "Cranberrybush" (Viburnum trilobum). Both are a.k.a. Highbush "Cranberry" and "Cranberry" Viburnum, but neither is a true cranberry. From https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viburnum-opulus/ -- "Differentiation is by glands [on] the leaf stalk near the blade. Those of Guelder-rose are typically...oval-elliptic, and [depressed] bowl- or cup-shaped with a distinct rim" (but not visible in the photo). To confuse the issue, the two species have hybridized and continue to naturalize.
