It was exciting to hear and then finally see a singal Inca Dove. I have not observed this species in the area for several years. There was only one individual detected. It was singing and I hope it finds a companion!

This is the only agarita bush I know of in my neighborhood, and I noticed it was in bloom as I jogged by. Is this early? This makes me think about Nature's Notebook. I still kinda want to find a project there and start participating.

Taken during the 2023 Round Rock Christmas Bird Count in Forest North Estates, in northwest Austin, Williamson County.
This woodpecker's call notes sounded like the rounded notes of a Red-bellied Woodpecker but when I saw it I noticed the yellow belly and yellow cere. The red on the crown also seems to cover less area on the head then the red usually does on a Red-bellied Woodpecker. I wonder if this bird could be a hybrid Red-bellied Woodpecker/Golden-fronted Woodpecker. Golden-fronted can be found in town, and has been seen in the neighborhood a few times over the years.
